The purpose of this group is to support pregnant mom's mental health and to teach practical tools to help protect their mental health after the arrival of baby. Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADS) are the most common pregnancy complication, but we don't spend a lot of time talking about how to prevent and minimize the impact of PMADs. Approximately 20% of moms will experience postpartum anxiety, depression, OCD, or other mood disorders with in the 1st year postpartum. In fact, a lot of pregnant women will begin to experience symptoms of PMADS during pregnancy. This group will give you the tools you need to care for your mental health with confidence. We will cover the following topics
Week 1: Understanding Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs): Exploring the different types, symptoms, and prevalence of PMADs.
Week 2: Self-Care Strategies for Expectant and New Mothers: Discussing practical and effective self-care techniques to manage stress, anxiety, and mood swings during pregnancy and postpartum.
Week 3: Building a Supportive Network: Exploring the importance of a strong support system, including partner support, family involvement, and connections with other mothers facing similar challenges.
Week 4: Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques: Introducing mindfulness practices and relaxation exercises to help manage stress, promote emotional well-being, and enhance overall mental health.
Week 5: Navigating the Emotional Journey of Motherhood: Addressing the emotional ups and downs of pregnancy and postpartum, and providing coping strategies for the challenges that may arise.
Week 6: Developing your Mental Health Care Plan & When to Seek Professional Help: Discussing the importance of recognizing when to seek professional support, understanding available resources, and breaking down any stigma associated with mental health care.
